    European Science Foundation - ESF - Project coordinator

    The European Science Foundation (ESF) is the DEMOCRITOS project coordinator and main point of contact. ESF was established in 1974 to create a common European platform for cross-border cooperation in all aspects of scientific research. Nowdays, ESF has evolved in an organisation that aims to serve and strengthen european science, offering project management support for european collaborative projects in several scientific fields, peer review and evaluation services for programmes and institutions and hosting expert committies in various scientific areas.

    Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales - CNES

    CNES  is a French governmental organisation in charge of elaborating and proposing space strategy to the French Government, and implementing the subsequent activities. CNES’ activities encompass all fields of basis science and space applications. CNES Launchers Directorate (CNES-DLA), who will be involved in DEMOCRITOS, is a technical center dedicated to Space Transportation since 1961, dealing with future projects, national Research & Technology programs technical management and the Ariane family of launchers. 

    DLR

    DLR is Germany's national research center for aeronautics and space. Its extensive research and development work in aeronautics, space, transportation and energy is integrated into national and international cooperative ventures.  DLR’s research portfolio ranges from fundamental research to innovative development of the applications and products of tomorrow. The DLR Institute of Space Systems in Bremen will be participating in DEMOCRITOS.

    SSC Keldysh Research Centre

    The State Scientific Centre “Keldysh Research Centre” (formerly Rocket Scientific-Research Institute – RNII, Scientific-Research Institute-1 – NII-1, Scientific-Research Institute of Thermal Processes – NIITP) is the leading research organization in Russia in the field of rocket engine and space power systems. The SSC Keldysh Research Centre is included in the structure of Federal Space Agency and takes an active part in the formation and realization of the Federal Space Program. It develops, manufactures and tests promising prototypes of various types of rocket engines, space power systems, high-energy beam generators and particle accelerators.

    National Nuclear Laboratory - NNL

    NNL provides research, development, technology and scientific services for a wide range of disciplines across all areas of the nuclear fuel cycle including strategic assessment, fuel production, reactor operations support, waste management and decommissioning. NNL is government owned, commercially operated (GOCO) organisation that provides independent, authoritative advice on nuclear issues to the UK government.

    Thales Alenia Space Italia

    Thales Alenia Space is a European Space Industry Leader, whose activities include the design, development, and manufacturing of: space systems, satellites, payloads, instruments and associated ground systems for civilian and military applications. The Torino Business Segment Space Infrastructure and Transportation (BS-SIT) of TAS Italia (TAS Italia), that is participating as partner in DEMOCRITOS, has developed many elements of the International Space Station (ISS) and is deeply involved in exploration mission and preparatory programs, with responsibility roles in technology development and architectural studies, for both manned and unmanned (robotic) exploration missions, including collaborative man-robotic interaction.

    Snecma

     Snecma is an aircraft and rocket engine manufacturer: engine and propulsion systems for commercial airplanes, engines for combat, training and transport aircraft, propulsion system and equipment for launchers, satellites and space vehicles.
